- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆My Dad bought me a hanging basket from there for Mother's Day. I still wanted to plant some strawberry and tomatoe plants, some annuals and pick up a couple more mixed hanging baskets. I was looking at them with another lady, and we both commented on how they already looked root bound and some we're quite shabby with some dead plants in them (strange because the one that I have at home looks great). She thought that they should be marked down in price. I agreed. I went into the store to pick up a few other things and I ran into an employee that asked if I needed any help. I mentioned to her what the other lady and I thought about the baskets. She agreed and said that if they looked shabby, she would give me some off. I still had a few more stops to make and didn't want to leave them in the hot car, so I said that I would come back later. When I returned, she was gone, but I found a young man. I started to explain about her giving me some off of the baskets. Before I could even get the sentence finished, he says "absolutely not". I looked at him all confused and said "pardon me?" his reply was "I am NOT just giving you some FREE baskets". Whoa, who said anything about FREE baskets of flowers? Why would I ever expect that? Do people even do that? That seems strange to me. I never expect anything for free or never have. There were people all around us and I felt totally embarrassed as he was not talking quietly. Heck, I would have been happy with ANYTHING off (I just didn't feel that they were still worth the full price when they no longer looked as nice). When the other sales girl told me 50%, I was shocked and more than impressed. However, this guy made me feel like he was looking his nose down at me, like I was a second rate citizen - which I can assure you that I am not. He then went on to say that they will possibly be marking them down the next day. I was honest and told him that I lived out of town and the other girl said that she was going to do it for me today. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "well we're not". I certainly left there wondering how a young man like that got promoted to the general manager of the whole store. It certainly was not from experience or for his award winning customer service abilities. I know that I will not be shopping there again nor will I be encouraging anyone that I know to be shopping there either. I told him as much and said that I would be posting my story on Facebook, he didn't seem to care as he shrugged his shoulders and walked away. If my review had been written based on my experience with the first girl - it would have been 5 stars. She was wonderful. As was the girl that I spoke to on the phone. Lose the GM or send him to Customer Service training or lose customers.By Jodie Lang, February 24, 2017
